Tales from the River – Durnstein, Austria, Oct 10¸2011

The vines here seem to overflow the vineyards into the street

Inside the town wall was a great little shop. The wares were all displayed in the gate

but there was a small room inside the wall that houses the shopkeepers wares.

The town church looked like a cake, with blue and white icing and little bits of gold decoration.

By the time they finish cleaning the church, it is time to start all over again. Steady work!

We were treated to an organ concert.

The chapel was very ornate, as are they all here. Everyone pays a church tax

unless you have the guts to admit to the bishop that you are an atheist.

A wonderful old street, still very active

The castle on the hill, the church on the far left, and vineyards
